Your First Steps

You arrive in Tartarus on a small tutorial island with a wooden pickaxe and some food. Mine the coal ore around you — every block earns you levels and Ancient Energy, the server's main mining currency. (It's always called Ancient Energy — never "Cosmic".)

Leaving the tutorial

Your goal is level 10. Once you reach it, you're free to head into the prison proper with /spawn or /warp.

Up to level 10 you can hop back to the island with /tutorial, but it closes for good once you pass level 10 or hit Prestige 1+. See Levels & The Level Cap for how levelling works from there.

The mines

The heart of the prison is its mines. Open /warp to see them all. They run in order, with deeper mines unlocking as your level grows:

Coal → Iron → Lapis → Redstone → Gold → Diamond → Emerald → Netherite

Helpers for newcomers

A few Season 2 systems are built to ease you in:

• /daily hands out first-of-the-day bonuses — bonus drops plus boosted XP and Ancient Energy on your early kills and your first blocks. You'll get a chat reminder when you log in if you still have daily bonuses to claim.
• Around 60 in-game tips now broadcast every 2 minutes, surfacing hidden mechanics you might otherwise miss.
• Timezone note: clock times the server shows — resets, KOTH, payouts — display in your local timezone if you run the client mod, or in Pacific time (PST/PDT) without it.
