AncientsWiki

Ancient Energy is the enchanting fuel — the currency that powers your pickaxe's growth. It's one of the three core currencies, but unlike Money it lives on your gear, not in a balance.

Charging it up

As you mine, energy charges directly into the pickaxe you're holding. There's nothing to claim — the stored total just grows, and you can read it right off the item tooltip. The more you mine, the more your held pickaxe banks.

What it powers

  • The Wormhole — items you throw in spend their stored energy to level up and roll enchants. This is the main sink, and the reason you charge a pickaxe in the first place.
  • Enchant orbs and other special items — energy charges enchant orbs and similar consumables. Exceptional orbs are the priciest: Momentum VI charges for 5M, Lucky IV for 15M, and Powerball IV for a hefty 100M.
  • End-game pickaxe sinks — on the Path of the Ancients, rerolling or respeccing your pickaxe costs energy. Rerolls run from roughly 10M at P1 up to ~90M at P11; a respec costs double. These sinks exist to soak up surplus energy at the top end.

Moving energy around

Energy normally stays locked inside the item that holds it. Two commands let you pull it out and reshuffle it:

  • /extract <amount|all> — while holding a charged item, pulls energy out as physical Ancient Energy orbs you can store, trade, or move to other gear. Extracting is free in a safe zone but taxed outside one. The tax is per-rank, starting at 20% at your first rank and shrinking to 5% at the highest — so extract in a safe zone whenever you can.
  • /combine — merges loose energy orbs into a single stack.

Each orb carries its own amount — Ancient Energy orbs no longer stack (max stack size 1), so each one takes a slot. Energy-range rewards pay out the full rolled amount as a single orb rather than a pile of fixed-size ones.

Want to fund all this? Energy comes from mining — so a faster route through the Shop and the mines keeps your pickaxe charging.

Version history

v2.0.0

  • Energy orbs now show a clean white amount with the name in Ancient purple (replacing the old gold styling); crate and box previews match.
  • Ancient Energy now reads as a clean value (e.g. 3M – 6M Ancient Energy) in crates and loot boxes instead of a raw stack count.
  • Ancient Energy orbs no longer stack — each is its own slot.
  • New energy sinks added (pickaxe reroll/respec costs, Exceptional orb charging) to soak up surplus energy.
