King of the Hill (KOTH)
King of the Hill is a once-daily PvP showdown in its own arena. To win, stand on the hill and hold it — everyone else's job is to knock you off. Complete the capture and you walk away with the rebuilt KOTH Lootbag.
When it runs
KOTH runs once a day, at 6:00 PM Pacific — a single evening slot, so the whole server funnels into one bigger, more-contested fight. Staff can shift a given day's slot, so treat the in-game countdowns as the source of truth. Chat countdowns begin 15 minutes before the event ("KOTH starts in 15m! Do /warp koth!"). When it opens, head to the arena with /warp koth.
Gear tiers
Every KOTH has an announced gear tier. Only gear of that tier or lower is allowed:
| Tier | Allowed |
|---|---|
| Chain | Chain armour, wood weapons |
| Gold | Gold gear and weapons or lower |
| Iron | Iron gear and weapons or lower |
| Diamond | Diamond gear and weapons or lower |
| Netherite | Netherite gear and weapons or lower |
A Chain KOTH levels the playing field; a Netherite KOTH is a full-power brawl. Over-tier gear is blocked at the door, and anything over-tier you try to equip inside is automatically unequipped.
Capturing the hill
- Stand on the hill alone to start capping. A contested hill (more than one player on it) can't be captured.
- Once a capture starts, hold the hill for 5 minutes to win. Chat broadcasts who's capping and the time remaining.
- Stepping off, dying, or getting knocked off resets the capture. The hill is up for grabs again.
Death rules
Dying at KOTH stings, but you keep your kit:
- You keep your inventory on death — the one exception is a carried Lootbag, which drops where you fall.
- You're locked out for the rest of the event, and the gear you died with is locked out too. You can't hand your kit to a teammate to keep fighting.
- You can't drop items in the arena, and some commands are blocked while you're inside.
Anonymity
Players outside your own gang appear disguised — scrambled names and randomized skins. You'll recognize your gangmates; everyone else is a mystery. Joining and leaving a gang works normally during a KOTH; the only thing the event holds back is a member whose 24-hour removal timer would otherwise expire mid-fight, so a gang can't shrink in the middle of a capture.
The KOTH Lootbag
Win and you receive the KOTH Lootbag — right-click it in a safe zone to open. It was completely rebuilt for Season 2 into three layers:
- A guaranteed set: every win comes with a small package of staples, including the exclusive [K.O.T.H.] chat title.
- A random pool: the bag then rolls a handful of items from a wide spread of consumables, boosters, orbs, boss keys, and inventory expanders.
- A jackpot spin: a separate spin lands one guaranteed premium reward. The KOTH-exclusive Olympian armour trim is the baseline pull at 72% of the slot, the Olympian weapon trim is the rare chase at 12%, and rank and G-Kit prizes fill the rest.
For more on event rewards, see Events Overview.
Version history
v2.0.0
- KOTH now runs once a day (6 PM Pacific) instead of twice, one bigger, more-contested fight for the hill.
- Cap time cut from 10 minutes to 5 — you hold the hill for half as long to win.
- The KOTH Lootbag was completely rebuilt: a meaningful guaranteed set, a random pool, and a separate guaranteed-premium Jackpot spin.
- The Raider trim is no longer a KOTH reward.
v3.0.0
- KOTH now runs at the same time every day, 6 PM Pacific, instead of alternating between a morning and an evening slot.
- The Olympian armour trim is now 72% of the jackpot slot (up from 60%) and the Olympian weapon trim 12% (up from 10%).
- The Lootbag's random pool got richer. See KOTH Lootbag for the new quantities.
- Gang membership is no longer locked during a KOTH. A pending removal still waits for the event to end, but joining and leaving work as normal.
