Pickaxe Prestige (Path of the Ancients)

Your Ancient Pickaxe prestiges on its own track, separate from your account prestige. Hold the pickaxe and run /pickprestige (alias /pickaxeprestige) to open the menu. Each pickaxe climbs individually, up to Prestige 11, and every prestige preserves the pickaxe's level, stored energy, and enchants.

The two requirements

Both costs are shown in the menu before you commit, so you always see exactly what's left:

  1. Mine your tier's ore with that specific pickaxe — only blocks broken by the pickaxe you're prestiging count.
  2. Pay Ancient Energy stored on the pickaxe itself — one of the server's two currencies.

Which ore counts depends on your pickaxe tier:

Pickaxe Counts
Wooden Iron ore
Stone Lapis
Golden Redstone
Iron Gold ore
Diamond Diamond ore
Netherite Ancient Debris

Higher-tier ores also count toward lower-tier requirements, so a richer block always helps.

Block counts (Season 2 rebalance)

Lower-tier picks used to need almost nothing to prestige. In Season 2 the curve tapers 10% per tier down from diamond instead of bottoming out — at any prestige level, wood needs 60%, stone 70%, gold 80%, and iron 90% of diamond's count. For example, Prestige 1 asks diamond for 70,000 blocks, which means wood 42,000 / stone 49,000 / gold 56,000 / iron 63,000. Counts climb at every prestige, and the menu always shows your exact progress.

Some rarer blocks now count as more than one toward the requirement:

Block Worth
Calcite 2 blocks
Ancient Debris 1.5 blocks
Emerald Ore 1.25 blocks

So 10M emerald counts as 12.5M. The menu's progress tracker flags which ores are boosted, so you know where to mine — see The Mines and the Calcite Caverns for where those blocks live.

Tartarus Prestige (P11) is the exception: it now costs a flat 50,000,000 blocks on every pickaxe tier and no longer scales down for lower picks. See Tartarus Prestige (P11) for the full endgame jump.

Energy cost

The energy price rises steeply with each prestige and scales by pickaxe tier (wood is cheapest, iron the most, with netherite on its own higher multiplier). Exact amounts are listed in the menu — read them there rather than memorising a chart, since the curve gets retuned.

Rerolls & respecs now cost energy

In Season 2, rerolling or respeccing a pickaxe spends Ancient Energy pulled from your inventory (not the pickaxe), on top of the usual token. The cost scales with the pickaxe's prestige level — roughly 10M at P1 up to 90M at P11 — and respecs cost double. Tokens still drop and stack as before; the energy is an extra end-game sink. Tokens can also turn up in Rift Shop & Caches. What you actually reroll and respec — paths, perks, and stats — is covered in Pickaxe Prestige Rewards.

Season 2 also fixed a bug where applying a Perk Swap, Stat Swap, or Path Respec token could fail with "couldn't find that pickaxe in your inventory" — the token now reliably finds your live pickaxe.

Version history

v2.0.0

  • Pickaxe prestige block and energy requirements rebalanced — lower-tier picks now taper 10% per tier from diamond (wood 60% / stone 70% / gold 80% / iron 90%) instead of being trivially cheap.
  • Tartarus Prestige (P11) now costs a flat 50M blocks on every pickaxe tier.
  • Rarer ores count as more than one block: Calcite x2, Ancient Debris x1.5, Emerald Ore x1.25.
  • Rerolling or respeccing a pickaxe now spends Ancient Energy too (~10M at P1 up to ~90M at P11; respecs double), on top of the token.
  • Fixed perk/stat swaps and path respecs failing to find your pickaxe.
