Exceptional Enchant Orb
The Exceptional Enchant Orb sits at the top of the Enchant Orb family — the only way to push an enchant one level past its normal cap.
Eight enchants have an Exceptional level, and no Wormhole roll and no ordinary orb will ever reach it:
| Orb | Requires on the item | Ancient Energy to charge |
|---|---|---|
| Efficiency VI | Efficiency V | 600,000 |
| Momentum VI | Momentum V | 5,000,000 |
| Lucky IV | Lucky III | 15,000,000 |
| Overload IV | Overload III | 20,000,000 |
| Enlighten IV | Enlighten III | 20,000,000 |
| Fracture VI | Fracture V | 22,650,000 |
| Warp Miner VI | Warp Miner V | 30,000,000 |
| Powerball IV | Powerball III | 100,000,000 |
How they work
- Charge it. Every Exceptional orb arrives empty and has to be filled with Ancient Energy before it can be used. Hold the orb in one hand and energy in the other and right-click.
- Apply it. The item must already carry the enchant at its normal maximum — Powerball IV needs Powerball III, Efficiency VI needs Efficiency V, and so on.
- The roll. Every Exceptional orb applies at a flat 50% — the same coin flip on all eight, with no better-odds version to hunt for. A failed roll destroys the orb, so keep an Enchant Catalyst in your hotbar to rescue it.
The Calcite gate
Six of the eight are more than a level. They are the key to a Calcite enchant. A Calcite upgrade whose base enchant has an Exceptional level now requires that level before the Calcite Wormhole will offer it:
| Calcite enchant | Now needs |
|---|---|
| Prismatic Efficiency | Efficiency VI |
| Cavern Luck | Lucky IV |
| Fault Line | Fracture VI |
| Event Horizon | Warp Miner VI |
| Prismatic Overload | Overload IV |
| Eternal Enlightenment | Enlighten IV |
Unending Frenzy and Cataclysmic Shatter are the two exceptions. Their base enchants have no Exceptional level, so they still gate on Frenzy IV and Shatter VI.
Where to get them
Each of the four world bosses guards one: Echidna drops Momentum VI, Lamia drops Efficiency VI, Thanatos drops Lucky IV and Hephaestus drops Powerball IV.
The four newest ones (Fracture VI, Warp Miner VI, Overload IV and Enlighten IV) come from the Uber bosses. Every Uber kill pays exactly one Exceptional orb, and which orb depends on which Uber you put down.
You can also pull an Exceptional level back off an item with a Black Scroll — Exceptional is the one tier a plain Black Scroll can recover. See Removing & Moving Enchants.
