Jewels

Jewels are an ultra-rare find from mining: socket one and it grants a global passive that applies no matter what you hold or wear. They were added for Tartarus Map III and are managed entirely through /jewels.

Every jewel is one of two kinds:

  • A Gaian jewel only rolls mining stats.
  • A Therian jewel only rolls combat stats, and those are PvE only. Every combat line on a jewel reads zero against another player.

What you find is always one or the other, never a mix. A third kind, the hand-made Aetheric jewels, is never mined and plays by its own rules.

No jewel stat affects PvP. A jewel is never something you socket to win a fight in the Polis — you socket it to farm faster and to kill mobs and bosses faster.

Finding a jewel

Jewels drop unopened, as a Mystery Jewel, while you mine. The ore you break sets the jewel's rarity exactly the way it sets a shard's — the same eight tiers, from Simple on coal up to Exceptional on Ancient Debris. Where an ore spans two rarities, the drop lands on the upper one 30% of the time.

Ore Rarity Find rate (per block)
Coal Simple ~1 in 25,000
Iron Simple / Uncommon ~1 in 28,500
Lapis Uncommon / Elite ~1 in 33,000
Redstone Elite / Ultimate ~1 in 38,500
Gold Ultimate / Legendary ~1 in 45,500
Diamond Legendary / Godly ~1 in 55,500
Emerald Godly / Divine ~1 in 71,000
Ancient Debris Divine / Exceptional ~1 in 100,000

Nothing raises the rate. Jewel find is a flat per-ore chance and rides none of the shard stack — no enchant, prestige perk, booster, trim, Lodestone, of the Prospector or daily bonus changes it. The only adjustment is that bonus-broken blocks (Powerball and the like) count as half a roll, the same as they do for shards.

Mining is not the only way in:

  • Winning a Mining Rush has a 25% chance to also hand the winner a Mystery Jewel, at the rarity the rush's own ore drops — contesting the higher-tier rushes is how you chase a high-tier jewel on a timetable.
  • The Reach Level 30 step of Path of the Ancients pays a guaranteed Mystery Uncommon Jewel, so the "Open a Mystery Jewel" step behind it can never stall on bad luck.
  • The Tartarus Map III Crate pays 2–4 Mystery Ultimate Jewels.
  • The rotating Weekly Loot Box currently carries 1–3 Mystery Elite Jewels. Its contents rotate, so that can change from week to week.

Unearthing one flashes the find in the middle of your screen with a chime — it is not announced to the server.

Opening a Mystery Jewel

A Mystery Jewel shows only its rarity. Right-click to cut it open and roll what's inside:

  • Whether it cuts into a Gaian or a Therian is decided the moment you open it — a fresh cut is equally likely to be either.
  • It rolls 1 to 3 stats, weighted toward one (roughly 50% one, 35% two, 15% three).
  • Every stat rolls a tier from T1 (best) down to T8, then a value inside that tier's range.

The jewel's rarity sets the best tier it can reach (only an Exceptional jewel can roll T1), and rolls are weighted hard toward the best tier available (roughly 45% land on it):

Rarity Best tier Rarity Best tier
Simple T8 Legendary T4
Uncommon T7 Godly T3
Elite T6 Divine T2
Ultimate T5 Exceptional T1

Cutting a jewel with a T1 or T2 stat plays a flourish — for you only. Which stats exist on which ore is a matter for the Catalog below.

Socketing

Open /jewels to socket what you've cut. You start with 1 socket; Prestige II unlocks a second and Prestige III a third. Socketing consumes the item (a socketed jewel lives as server-side data, not in your inventory), and unsocketing mints it back.

  • The same on/off jewel ability cannot be socketed twice; rolled stats stack normally.
  • You cannot socket or unsocket while combat-tagged, so there are no mid-fight swaps. Untagged, you're free to rearrange, including for a trip into the Polis.
  • Socketing and unsocketing has its own amethyst chime, pitched up going in and down coming out.

Players on the Ancients client get a native socket UI: your jewel sockets show as extra hotbar slots (locked ones show the prestige they need), and the inventory screen gains socket slots you can click or drag a jewel onto to fit it, click a socketed jewel to take it back.

Salvaging: fuse or scrap

This moved out of /jewels. Fusing and scrapping now happen at the shared Salvage Bench, opened with /salvage — the old Reforge station inside the jewel menu is gone. The rules are unchanged; only the way in is different.

The bench has three staging slots. Click jewels in your inventory to stage them, then hit Salvage!:

  • Stage 3 jewels of the same rarity and they fuse into 1 unopened Mystery Jewel of that rarity, a free reroll of the whole jewel.
  • Stage anything else (one, two, or three of mixed rarity), and they're scrapped for Ancient Energy instead, at a flat rate per rarity, so duplicates are never dead weight.

You cannot salvage while combat-tagged, the same lock /jewels uses. Anything left staged comes back to you when you close the bench.

The same bench also fuses 3 Godly Enchant Orbs into 1 Mystery Godly Enchant Orb, but the two families can't be mixed in one press, stage orbs or jewels, not both.

Rarity Scrap value Rarity Scrap value
Simple 10,000 Legendary 500,000
Uncommon 25,000 Godly 1,000,000
Elite 75,000 Divine 2,500,000
Ultimate 200,000 Exceptional 6,000,000

Rerolling a jewel you keep

Two currencies work on a jewel you already own, and both can leave it worse than they found it:

  • The Reforging Sigil rerolls one random modifier into a different one, at a freshly rolled tier, a gamble on identity.
  • The Truing Stone keeps every modifier and its tier, and rerolls only the values, a gamble on quality.

Right-click either one to pick which jewel it works on, or pick the currency up onto your cursor and click it onto a jewel in your inventory. Socketed jewels must be taken out first — a socketed jewel is data, not an item, so there is nothing for the currency to land on.

The Catalog

The /jewels menu carries a Catalog listing every stat each ore can give, with the full tier-by-tier range on each. It opens on a type list — pick Gaian or Therian to browse just that type's stats.

Entries start hidden, and reveal for the whole server the moment anyone first rolls that stat on that ore. The first finder is credited by name on the entry, permanently. The catalog is the server's shared discovery record. This wiki won't spoil it, so go roll something nobody has.

Losing jewels on death

Socketed jewels follow your gear, not your luck:

  • A gear-dropping death in Forgotten Polis rolls each socketed jewel at the same 25% as each armour piece and weapon.
  • Dying anywhere else: mines included — drops every socketed jewel where you fell, the same as the rest of your inventory.
  • Combat logging dodges neither roll.
  • Deaths that keep your inventory (boss arenas, KOTH, duels, raids) never touch your jewels.
  • Guards confiscate your socketed jewels along with the rest of your gear — confiscated gear is destroyed, not dropped.

How jewel stats stack

Jewel stats pool with your other sources rather than multiplying on top of them:

  • Jewel critical strike chance pools with Precision, and jewel Critical Strike Multiplier pools with Brutality. Both jewel lines are PvE only, so against a player you keep the enchant half and lose the jewel half.
  • The of the Prospector shard-find stat pools additively with armour trim shard find and Lodestone.
  • Increased Mining Speed from jewels sums into the same additive pool as every other increased Mining Speed source (see Mining Speed).
