Pickaxe Rentals
The pickaxe rental market lets owners earn from spare picks while renters mine with gear far above their own. Open it with /rentals — it only works inside safe zones.
Renting a pickaxe
Renting one pickaxe costs 1 White Scroll, deposited to your rental balance beforehand. While you mine a rented pickaxe, two cuts come off the top:
- The owner's cut — the cash and Ancient Energy share they set, anywhere from 0–50% each.
- A system fee, scaled to how close the pickaxe is to the current level cap:
| Pickaxe tier vs. cap | System fee (cash / energy / all XP) |
|---|---|
| At the current level cap | 30% |
| One tier below the cap | 20% |
| Two or more tiers below | Nothing |
So a top-tier rental is the most lucrative to mine with but also the most heavily taxed, while older picks let you keep almost everything.
When a lease ends
A lease ends if you stop mining for too long, log out, or die. Death consumes your White Scroll — ending the lease voluntarily returns it instead. The owner can also recall their pickaxe at any time, with a 30-second grace period before it leaves your hands.
Listing your own pickaxe
To put a pickaxe on the market, open My Listings, click the pickaxe, set your cash and Ancient Energy cut (0–50% each), and confirm. Note that any Ancient Energy stored on the pickaxe is cleared when you list it — bank or spend it first.
Once listed:
- Collect Tax — gather your earnings any time from this page.
- My Listings — recall the pickaxe, unlist it, or blacklist a renter you'd rather not deal with.
Listing out a high-prestige pickaxe is a steady income stream from gear you've already built — someone else does the mining, and you take your cut.
