Bosses Overview

Four bosses haunt Ancients, each summoned at its own altar in the Boss Hub and fought in a private party arena for some of the best loot on the server. Open /boss to pick one, check its difficulty, see which arenas are in use, and reach the Boss Shop, Boss Leaderboard, and RNG Meter.

The difficulty ladder

Boss Difficulty Unlocked at
Lamia Easy Fund tier I
Echidna Moderate Fund tier II
Thanatos Hard Fund tier III
Hephaestus Very Hard Fund tier IV
Uber bosses Endgame Fund tier V

Don't let the order fool you: Hephaestus is the hardest of the normal fights, a clear step above Thanatos. Access is gated by the Community Fund tier alone — there is no player level or prestige requirement any more, so the moment the server unlocks a boss, everyone holding a key can summon it. See Summoning a Boss for the full process.

Above the normal four sit the Uber bosses — a harder version of each fight, summoned at the same altars with their own Uber keys once the fund reaches tier V.

Forging a key

Each boss is opened with a single Boss Key, forged automatically once you stack 64 Essences of that boss. Essence drops from hunting — shades and wraiths in the Forgotten Polis — with tougher hunts carrying essence for tougher bosses. Collect 64 of one kind and it forges itself into that boss's key on the spot. One key, one summon. Keys stack like any other item now, and a stack you split stays split.

The altar key is the only way a boss appears — bosses can no longer be spawned outside their arenas.

Uber keys are separate relics, not upgraded normal keys, and they aren't forged from essence. They come out of Erebus Crates dropped by high-tier Erebus Tears, and a crate only ever pays the key matching that tear's mark. See Uber Bosses for the four of them.

Loot

All boss loot goes to the summoner — the player whose key opened the portal — and the size of the haul doesn't change with party size, so bring friends for the mechanics, not a smaller share. If the summoner is offline at the moment of the kill, the loot waits safely in their /stash. Each boss page describes the kinds of rewards it offers — gear, essences, and the occasional chase drop — and you can set a target on the RNG Meter for bad-luck protection on the rarer pulls. A few of the rarest finds in Tartarus are left undocumented on purpose — discover them yourself. Every boss is locked behind a Community Fund tier — the altar tells you which one opens it.

A word on the fights

These are real fights, not loot piñatas. Each boss has its own identity and its own ways to punish a careless party, so come geared and stay mobile. Two fair-play notes worth knowing going in: bosses slowly regenerate if you stop hitting them, and they can't be slowed or stun-locked. Everything else — the patterns, the tells, the moment to back off — is yours to learn in the arena.

This section covers each boss in detail, plus the shared systems behind every fight: summoning, fight mechanics, loot and drop announcements, the Uber bosses, the RNG Meter, and the Boss Leaderboard.

Version history

v3.0.0

  • Boss summons are now gated by the Community Fund tier alone — the player level and prestige requirements on Echidna, Thanatos and Hephaestus are gone.
  • Thanatos unlocks at Fund tier III and Hephaestus at Fund tier IV, each one tier earlier than before.
  • Added the four Uber bosses, unlocked together at Fund tier V.
  • Bosses can no longer be spawned outside their arenas — the altar key is the only summon path.
  • Boss keys no longer force themselves back into one stack; a split you make sticks.
  • Dying to a boss now respawns you at that boss's altar instead of at spawn.
  • Boss abilities no longer lose most of their damage to armor.

v2.0.0

  • Boss summons now use a player-level gate instead of Hunter rank: Echidna needs Level 60+, Thanatos Level 100+ (or any prestige), and Hephaestus Player Prestige II + Level 102. Lamia stays open as the introductory boss.
  • Bosses now slowly regenerate when left alone — after 10 seconds without taking damage they heal 1% max HP per second (paused during invulnerable phases), so don't stop hitting them.
  • Bosses can no longer be slowed or stun-locked — Slowness sources don't stick and rapid fire no longer flinch-pauses them.
