Lootboxes & Crates
Lootboxes are sealed reward boxes you collect as you play. Right-click one while standing in a safe zone — your own cell now counts — to crack it open, and an animated reveal rolls your rewards in front of you. Some of the bigger boxes broadcast their rewards to the whole network, and a few carry a chance at a jackpot that upgrades one of your rolls to a pull from a juicier pool.
Two quality-of-life rules apply across every box and crate now:
- You can see your odds before opening. Crates and loot boxes show the exact drop chance next to every item in their tooltip.
- Overflow never drops on the ground. If your inventory is full, rewards go safely to your
/stashinstead of scattering at your feet.
Most boxes pay out in items and currencies you'll recognise from elsewhere on the server. The exact odds live in each box's tooltip — half the fun is opening one to find out what you got.
This section covers each family of box, the Season 2 store changes, and the focused pages for the biggest ones.
Box families
| Family | What's inside |
|---|---|
| Booster Boxes | One booster of a random type — XP, Ancient Energy, ore, or shard. The tier sets the strength: Common, Rare, Epic, and Global. |
| Mystery boxes | A single item from a themed pool — think contraband, summoning keys, and other useful supplies, with the occasional rarer pull. |
| Fund Lootboxes I–V | Tier rewards from the Community Fund. Each opens several rewards at once; later tiers open more and better loot, with a jackpot pool headlined by a permanent rank paper. |
| Rift Caches I–III | Bought in the Rift Shop for Rift Marks — see Rift Shop & Caches. |
| Lockboxes | A risk-to-open box tied to Erebus's Pit; not currently part of any regular reward pool. |
Ancient Energy rewards read clean
When a box or crate hands you Ancient Energy, it now shows as a clean value — for example 3M-6M Ancient Energy in white, with the name in Ancient purple — instead of a raw stack count. Energy-range rewards pay the full rolled amount as a single orb.
Season 2: the store and crates
Weekly Loot Boxes
The /store General Items category is gone. In its place is a Weekly Loot Boxes category: a fresh, themed box every week, each priced at 1,000 Obols (or a bundle of three for 2,500). The launch box is the ✦ Descent Cache — full details on Weekly Loot Boxes.
The Tartarus Map II Crate
The seasonal crate is now the Tartarus Map II crate, sold in /store. Every open is guaranteed a generous handful of relics plus a jackpot roll, revealed through a one-of-a-kind floating-vault-temple animation. The jackpot pool is where the marquee chase prizes hide — among the rarest finds in Tartarus, left for the worthy to uncover. Browse every crate ever released with /ancientcrates, or read the full rundown on The Tartarus Map II Crate.
Restart-safe opens
A crate opened during a server restart no longer loses its loot or leaves reward items floating — any pending loot is handed straight to you as the server goes down.
Season 2 tuning
- Booster boxes were nerfed to Common 1.25x, Rare 1.5x, and Epic 1.75x.
- Level-Prestige lootboxes were removed entirely.
