Skywars
Skywars is a sky-island, last-one-standing event that opens a fresh round every 2 hours. It unlocks at Fund II of the Community Fund, so once the server hits that milestone, the rounds start rolling automatically.
Joining a round
When a round opens, chat broadcasts a join window on one of four maps. The window runs 120 seconds by default, counting down at 60/30/10/5/4/3/2/1s — each announcement now plays a ding, like KOTH — so you'll have plenty of warning.
- Type
/skywars jointo claim a cage spot. Slots are capped at the chosen map's cage count, so popular rounds fill up. - You can only join from a safe zone — no queueing up mid-fight or out in the open.
/skywars leavedrops you from the queue, or eliminates you if the round has already started./skywars statusshows the current round, or the time until the next one.
A round needs at least 2 players to start. If too few join before the window closes, the round is cancelled. A win only counts toward the weekly Skywars board (/weeklytop) if the round had at least 4 participants.
How a round plays out
Everyone starts caged on a floating sky-island, with chests waiting to be cracked. After a short cage countdown the cages drop and it becomes a free-for-all — the last player standing wins.
The arena is the only safe ground. Falling into the void, leaving the arena, or dying to another player all eliminate you. Loot fast, fight smart, and watch your footing.
Chest loot
Every chest stocks Ancient gear — never vanilla items. The further you push toward the centre, the better the haul: island chests hold lighter armour and weapons, while the centre rewards the brave with diamond gear, more enchants per piece, and the occasional very rare prize.
Bows pulled from chests are worth grabbing: arrows are ray-traced against participants, so they now land hits and knock targets back — enough to bump someone clean off an island. See PvP Basics for how combat reads on Ancients.
Champion Boxes
The top 3 finishers each walk away with Skywars Champion Boxes, scaled by placement:
| Placement | Boxes |
|---|---|
| 1st | 3 |
| 2nd | 2 |
| 3rd | 1 |
If your inventory is full, overflow boxes go straight to your /stash rather than dropping on the ground.
Each box rolls from a generous pool of high-end rewards — think Ancient Energy, Enchant Dust, boosters, dice and flares — plus a small jackpot pool holding the chase items. See the Skywars Champion Box page for the Map III contents, and Lootboxes & Crates for how boxes open.
Skywars-exclusive rewards
A handful of rewards exist only inside Champion Boxes — you won't find them anywhere else. The Skyfall armour trim and the Skyfall bow trim — the game's first bow trim — are the box's jackpot chases, among the rarest treasures in Tartarus.
The Aether Aegis is a tiered I–III offhand that reduces incoming damage (up to 10% less at Tier III), and can be tinkered up like the server's other offhands. Tiers I and II sit in the box's normal loot; Tier III is a jackpot drop.
Rolling Skywars from the dice
Fortune's Dice can also kick off a Skywars round for everyone to join. Its old Tartarus Rift outcome was removed, so rolling a 2 now opens a Skywars round instead.
Version history
v2.0.0
- New event: Skywars — every 2 hours a round opens;
/skywars joinfrom a safe zone to take a sky-island cage and fight to be the last standing. - Champion Boxes reward the top 3 (1st = 3, 2nd = 2, 3rd = 1) and are the only source of the Aether armour trim, Aether pickaxe trim, and the new Aether Aegis offhand.
- Bows now connect and knock back in Skywars.
- Rolling a 2 on Fortune's Dice has a small chance to open a Skywars round.
v3.0.0
- Skywars now unlocks at Fund II, down from Fund III.
- The Champion Box was overhauled: the new Skyfall armour and bow trims replace the Aether trims as the jackpot drops, and Aether Aegis I/II moved into the normal loot with Aether Aegis III as a jackpot.
- Fixed eliminations dropping 2 copies of every worn armour piece.
- The join countdown now plays a ding on each announcement, like KOTH.
- A win only counts toward the weekly Skywars board with at least 4 participants in the round.
