Boosters

Boosters are consumable items that multiply what you earn for a limited time. Right-click a booster to activate it — the item is consumed and the boost starts ticking immediately. Check what you have running at any time with /boosters.

The four booster types

Type What it boosts
XP Booster Mining XP
Energy Booster Ancient Energy earned from mining
Ore Booster Ore drop amounts from mining (crude ore is not affected)
Shard Booster Shard drop chance from mining

Each booster has a strength (shown on the item, e.g. x1.5 or x2) and a duration. Your boosters follow you everywhere on the network — switching areas never loses them or their remaining time. Personal booster timers only count down while you're online, so logging off banks whatever time is left; global boosters run in real time.

Personal vs Global

  • Personal boosters affect only you.
  • Global boosters affect everyone online when activated. Using one is announced to the whole network, and a boss bar tracks the time remaining. If a global booster of the same strength is already running, yours extends it instead of being wasted; if a different strength is running, you'll be blocked until it expires — so nothing gets overwritten.

The in-game store (/store → Global Boosters) sells 60-minute x2 global boosters for Obols: XP and Energy for 500 Obols each, Ore and Shard for 250 Obols each, plus a Mystery Global Booster Box (a random one of the four) for 350 Obols.

How boosters stack

All your active booster bonuses of one type — your personal booster, any global booster, and any mining-competition reward boost — are added together into one pool. For example, a x1.5 personal booster running alongside a x2 global booster gives x2.5 in total: the bonuses add up rather than multiply.

Two perks sit on top of that pool and multiply the result:

  • Discord boost — boosting the Ancients Discord with a linked account gives you 5% more XP and Ancient Energy while it lasts.
  • Fate Card effects — temporary buffs (and debuffs) drawn from Fate Cards apply as their own separate layer.

Queueing — boosters never burn in parallel

If you activate several personal boosters of the same type, only the strongest one ticks down; the rest are frozen and queued until it runs out. Activating a booster identical in strength to one already running simply adds its duration on. You never waste a booster by activating it early.

Pausing

You can stop a booster's timer and bank the remaining time:

  • /pausebooster <exp|energy|ore|shard|all> — pause (or resume) a booster type.
  • /unpausebooster — resume paused boosters.
  • Right-clicking a new booster of a paused type warns you first, then unpauses that type when you confirm.

To keep things fair, you can't pause boosters for a short while after mining meteorite blocks (unless you're standing in a safe zone).

Boosters also pause automatically when it would be unfair for them to drain: entering the AFK lounge or a Tartarus Rift pauses your personal boosters, and they resume on their own when you leave. Anything you paused manually stays paused.

Overcharge Crystal

Keep an Overcharge Crystal in your inventory and the next booster you activate has its duration doubled — the crystal is consumed automatically and the activation message confirms it was applied.

Where boosters come from

  • Booster boxes — Common (x1.5), Rare (x2) and Epic (x2.5) Booster Boxes each contain a 60-minute personal booster of a random type; the Global Booster Box contains a 60-minute x2 global booster. These boxes appear in Fund and Prestige lootboxes, rift caches, seasonal crates, and many event reward tables (bosses, caravans, KOTH, clue caskets, heroic meteors and more).
  • Mining competitions — top placements earn temporary boost rewards that are added into the same pool as your own boosters.
  • The store — global boosters for Obols, as above.
