The Wormhole
The Wormhole is the swirling portal near spawn — and it's where all enchanting happens on Ancients. Instead of an enchanting table, you feed your gear to the void and hope it comes back stronger.
How enchanting works
- Charge your item. Mining fills your pickaxe with stored Ancient Energy automatically. The item's tooltip shows how much it's holding and how much the next level needs.
- Throw it in. Drop the item (default
Q) into the Wormhole. If it has enough stored energy, it's pulled in and levels up. - Pick an enchant. Floating enchant options appear above the portal, each showing its name, level, and odds — for example
72% ✓ 28% ✗. Click the one you want. - Sweat the roll. On a success, your item absorbs the enchantment. On a failure, the item still levels up, but no enchant is added — and the slot it used stays occupied (an Enchant Eraser can free slots later).
Rarity matters: common enchants succeed most of the time, while legendary-tier options are a real gamble. The exact odds for your roll are always shown on the option before you click.
Stacking the odds
- Enchant Dust — increases the success chance of your roll. The boost shows up directly on the displayed odds.
- Enchant Reroll — don't like the options? Reroll them for a fresh set.
- Enchant Catalyst — insurance: if the roll fails, the catalyst saves it.
- Gang upgrades — certain gang perks improve your Wormhole success odds.
Good to know
- What can go in: your Ancient pickaxe, Ancient gear, shard satchels, gen breakers, and calcite charge satchels all level through the Wormhole. Entangled pickaxes are refused.
- Queueing: you can have up to 10 items waiting — the next one starts when the current item returns.
- Don't log out mid-enchant. Leaving while your item is in the Wormhole counts the roll as a failure.
- Restarts are safe: if the server restarts while your item is inside, it's returned to you when you're back.
- Calcite orbs have their own ritual — they must be upgraded at the separate Calcite Wormhole in the Calcite Caverns.
