Special Items
A handful of unique items on Ancients do things no ordinary loot can — start events, pull you across the map, shrug off a boss, or rewrite your gear. Here are the ones worth knowing about, and where to find them.
Fortune's Dice
A glittering dice head that lets you start a server event. Right-click to roll: the dice lands on one of five outcomes and immediately starts it for the whole network. The Tartarus Rift is no longer one of them — the Rift is a personal daily activity now — so a roll of 2 instead opens a Skywars round for everyone. The per-outcome odds are printed live on the dice's tooltip.
The dice is consumed on a successful roll, and your roll is announced to everyone. If the rolled event can't start right now, the dice is refunded. Events you haven't unlocked yet are skipped, as are events that can't run twice at once.
Fortune's Dice now stack together like any normal consumable, and show their proper icon in the Personal Vault and cell terminals. Any old separate dice consolidate automatically the next time you log in.
Where to get them: boss drops, KOTH and event loot, clue caskets, top-end contrabands, the Fund, Prestige and seasonal-crate jackpots, quests, the Season Pass, and crates and loot boxes. A rare find from any of them. (The General Items store category was removed in Season 2.)
Echidna's Strand
A grappling hook woven from boss silk, dropped by Echidna, Mother of Monsters. It works like a fishing rod: right-click to cast the line, then reel in to fling yourself toward wherever the hook landed.
- Charging: drag Ancient Energy onto the item. Each grapple costs 50,000 energy, and the item's name shows how many charges you have banked.
- Cooldown: 40 seconds between grapples.
- Where it works: the prison mining worlds, the KOTH arena, Forgotten Polis, Ancient Roads — and now throughout the Dungeons.
Lamia's Veil
A shimmering veil of serpent scales — the Nectar of Lethe, dropped by Lamia, the Serpent Queen. Right-click to wrap yourself in cold protection: for 30 seconds you take half damage from monsters and bosses. PvP damage is not affected at all.
- Charging: drag Ancient Energy onto the item.
- Cost per use: scales with your Hunter rank — 25,000 energy at the lowest, ramping up to 500,000 energy at the top. The full cost table is on the item.
- Cooldown: 30 seconds — the same as the buff duration, so with enough energy you can keep the veil up permanently.
Orb of Moros
A corrupting item pulled from Erebus's Pit, dropped by the Pit guards. Drop the orb onto a custom pickaxe, weapon, or armor piece, then click the same item again within 10 seconds to confirm.
In Season 2 the orb is purely beneficial — it can no longer destroy your item or fizzle with no effect. Every orb grants one of:
- Jackpot — a few of its enchants gain a level, beyond their normal maximum.
- Implicit — the item gains a permanent passive bonus (more mining speed, more ore sell value, lifesteal, increased XP gain, extra Max HP, and the like, depending on the gear type).
- Reroll (gear only) — several of its enchant levels are torn out and redistributed into different enchants.
Whatever lands, the item is left permanently corrupted: a corrupted item can never be modified again, and no second orb can touch it. The one exception is trims — those can still be applied and removed. A tracker counts how many orbs you've used.
The rarest finds
Tartarus keeps a few secrets the wiki won't spoil. A small number of items, abilities, and trims — the kind billed as the rarest in the game — are left for the worthy to uncover in the world rather than read about here. If you find one, you'll know.
